Declare to this Generation what God has Done

How God answered my question about doing a podcast

“Lord, what am I doing? I am supposed to be coming to you, my Heavenly CEO to receive my instructions for the day, and I can’t concentrate at all!” I had my Bible open on my lap but if I was reading it, my mind sure wasn’t following. I just kept thinking of the idea I had for a podcast.

I had been toying with the thought of podcasting for a couple of years, but I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do. Then, a day or two ago, it came to me. I had already started a book of short stories of “God incidents” in the lives of my mother, Susie, and her family. Now I wondered how many other seniors that I know would have stories to tell of God’s intervention in their lives. Now, with my Bible open in front of me, my mind was listing people who would be interesting to interview.

Was this just my idea? Or could it be God’s prodding? Probably not! After all, I already had way too many irons in the fire. Not only was I working on my new book about Susie and, at the same time, trying to get “Susie’s Story” out where it could be a blessing, I was also complicating my life even further by setting up ChristianIndieBooks.com, giving Christian authors a place to list their books. It made no sense at all for this seventy-five year old to take on yet another project.

“Lord,” I prayed, “Help me turn off all these silly podcast thoughts.” Please just give me something in your word that I can focus on this morning.” I absently flipped a few pages as I prayed. Then I focused on the highlighted words in front of me.

15: My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness
And Your salvation all the day,
For I do not know their limits.
16: I will go in the strength of the Lord God;
I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

17: O God, You have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
18: Now also when I am old and gray-headed,
O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to THIS generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come.

The message my God was sending me was clear. These thoughts of a podcast were not just me being sidetracked. The Lord wanted me to declare to this generation His strength and His power with my mouth, not just my pen. I hope to start working on setting up a podcast soon.

I will keep you informed.
